Question: How do you do affiliate marketing?

I have just started out and need all the help i can get, what area would be the best to start with, any help.... thanks

It can be a long haul before making your first sale, winning promotions are closely guarded secrets that successful affiliates don't share as a rule. Watch for adwords ads that continue to run for weeks, any such ad must be a winner, model what they are doing. It's a safer bet to go with something already being promoted successfully, though highly competitive area such as Diet, car Insurance, Jewelry and loans are tough for starters. Without spending a lot on risky ppc affiliate marketing one must spend months developing organic web site traffic. Pick an area you have an expertise or interest in that you can stick with for the site's gestation period.

In simpler terms, there are many genuine affiliate marketing programs to assist you from start-up to new biz building. You have to commit to it like you would a fulltime job. But without punching a time clock and being ordered around by supervisors at a physical location. "Being your own boss " isn't all it's cracked up to be. It takes discipline, especially to spend hours and hours doing stuff you hate to do like record keeping, web traffic analysis, etc. It can be a slog if you choose to focus on products that have high commissions only. Best to become an affiliate marketer for products you personally have a passion for. Digital scrapbooking, theme partyware, even skateboard hardware, fly fishing lures, t-shirt transfers, cards and stationery...it could be anything. What do you love to do? What do you have a passion for? Pick products you would buy yourself and love to talk to others about. It is more of a part-time pastime you would do on the side, and if you are successful, THEN quit your day job and do it fulltime. Most of all, remember that you get out of it only what you put in. You have to dedicate every waking hour of your life outside your job and family to immerse yourself in affiliate marketing. It can be a fun path but it is not a 'get-rick-quick' scheme. In fact, if anyone tells you it is, especially if they want you to pay lots of money to get into their program, be very cautious.
