Self employment taxes question? affiliate marketing?

Question: Self employment taxes question? affiliate marketing?

(Posted by: Carlos B on 2010-02-19 17:33:37)

Hi, I know that with most online affiliate marketing co. you get a 1099 like with google adsense, but if I also use a program from a company thats not based on the US, how can I report my earning to the IRS? they don't send 1099, by being overseas. Does anyone know how to file this, what form I need, or do I just add all payments and put as self employment, but no actual document? There is no actual invoice, I don't sell anything, All I do is recommend a product, and if someone gets that product through my links I make some money, and then once or twice a month I get a wire transfer with the money earned, theres no check, no invoice, no paper, nothing, just that I know i got the money on my account, with other company's that I use I get a 1099, and thats the only papertrail for that.

You don't have to have 1099's to declare your self employment income hopefully you are astute enough to keep good records and you file on the information you have maintained for your business--- if you don''t keep good records, you don't belong in a self employed business

Honestly, you could probably get away without reporting it. There is a line on the 1040 that is for Other Income. You can also do a Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ and record your Expenses and Revenues from it. There will be no form you must report to the IRS besides that. If you happen to get audited, you must provide records of all your expenses and revenues, whether it be bills for expenses and invoices for revenues. The chances of getting audited though for regular income people is like less than 1 percent though. So, don't even sweat it.
