Question: What is meant by affiliate marketing and how the products are to be promoted in affiliate marketing ?

Affiliate marketing is when you get paid a commission for promoting someone else product or service, in the offline world they are called sales reps. You can promote anything from real merchandise such as dvd players, movies, ipods, CD albums or digital products such as an E book. Most affiliates use click-bank or commission junction, this is where you go to find digital products such as weight loss, dog training, learn golf , energy saving or any how to information. Because of there digital nature they offer more commission over real items, since digital products are downloaded there are no shipping cost, therefore commissions can be as high as $40-$80 per sale. When you find something of interest, sign up for a free account, you are given an Affiliate link with your special code embedded into it, this is a way of tracking the customers you refer to the merchant. There are a lot of ways to promote affiliate products, the quickest way is Pay per click advertising, but that can be very expensive, or you could write informative articles on the subject or create a review site referring people to the product your promoting. Imagine this scenario: I sell laptops for $1,000. I know that you have many friends. So I tell you that I will give you $300 if you tell your friends to buy a laptop from me. You then tell all your friends and they keep on buying laptops from me and you are collecting $300 commission for every sale. But obviously you're going to run out of friends to sell to. You then decided to market the laptops to other people. Let's say you buy a small ad on a magazine for $600. Now you have a simple business model. All you need is to sell just 2 laptops and everything after that is pure profit. In a nutshell, that is Affiliate Marketing. Basically, there are 2 ways to promote products online. Article Marketing - this is a free method of driving targeted vistors to your website. Pro: FREE Con: SLOW Pay-Per-Click - paid method of driving traffic. You bid for keywords and you pay if a searcher clicks on your ads. Pro: FAST Con: You can lose a lot of money if you don't know what you're doing. Hope this helps

Affiliate marketing is where you don't need to sell a product that you own, but you simply refer people that want to know something about a particular product or market to the product by means of giving them information. You first need to join an affiliate program, such as Clickbank.com, and take a look at the products that they offer you to promote. Once you join the program you will be given an affiliate link. Once you get this link this is how you promote the product. The affiliate link will send people to the website of the product you are promoting and every time that someone makes a purchase you will be given a commission. Depending on the type of product you were selling, you can make between 5% and 75%. My personal recommendation would be that you promote low price products with higher commissions. We all know that people don't like to spend a lot of money so if you can get a high commission and sell a lot of products, you will make more money than if you sold a product with a higher price but a lower commission. The easiest way to promote products is to write articles. You can write articles about any topic related to the product you are selling and post them on thousands of article directories across the net. Your articles, if they are well written, may be published on websites or blogs in your niche giving you more exposure. The second easiest way to promote products is by meeting people through social networks and building relationships with them. If you pinpoint their problems and you have a product that can help them out, you will be able to make a lot of sales. Places like Facebook and Myspace are perfect for this type of marketing. It's not as easy as it sounds though. There's specific strategies and plans that you must follow in order to make a full time income. You can take this type of marketing and really live off of it if you are smart and know what you are doing. Affiliate Marketing simply means that you earn a commission on any product or service you sell to others, usually selling those products or services online. In some cases you may sell offline and give the person you refer your affiliate link when they call the company to place an order. The products can be promoted many ways. Many people set up a website or blog and focus on a topic they are passionate about. They then work with companies that will pay them a commission if someone purchases a similar product form your website by clicking a link with your affiliate ID. Ex. you are into running. You have all things running on your site. Free articles, a blog about your own experiences, and whatever else you want to put on the site. You would then work with a shoe company for example and mention that if you click this link said shoe company is a good place to buy sneakers and they are having a 20% off sale for the next 48 hours. Anyone whom clicks your link and makes a purchase you would then make a commission on. Build a big following in time and you will make a good amount of money. Try to build up an email list as that is where the money is made. By doing that the people who have a sincere interest in your topic will think and buy from your site or email when you make them offers. Only promote products or services you believe in!! That is how people will end up staying with you, because the products you recommend to them will be of the highest quality and you will build up credibility and as a result repeat customers.
